Why steel

Strength and security at a budget-friendly price.

A steel door closes an opening securely, affordably, and without a callback. Dent resistant, insulated, and ready for whatever color the homeowner picks.

Steel slabs with an insulated core, primed for paint, prehung and bored here on the same order as the rest of the package. Front entries with glass and sidelites, rear entries, garage to house, utility openings, and whole jobs where budget leads, like rentals and turns. Panel, arch top, multi-lite, and Dutch designs cover the elevation as well as the back of the house.

Questions we get

What dealers ask us.

Masonite wood edge steel doors carry a 20 minute rating as standard and are available in a 90 minute option. That is why steel is the usual pick for the garage to house opening.

When budget and security lead: production houses, rentals and turns, rear and garage entries, and front entries where the homeowner wants a painted door at a lower price than fiberglass. For a stained woodgrain look or a coastal rating, ask your Tucker rep about the right fit.

The face is galvanized and primed, and on a sheltered opening it holds up. On an exposed entry, especially near salt air, fiberglass is the better answer and we will tell you so.

Steel dents where fiberglass would flex. On a high traffic opening with carts or equipment going through it, that is worth weighing.

The slab is harder to breach, but on a residential opening the lock, the strike, and the frame decide security more than the slab does. Spec the hardware with the door.

Yes. It is prehung and bored here and ships with the rest of the exterior order.
