What an exterior door has to do.

An exterior door is a system. The door, the frame, the sill, the weatherstrip, the glass, and the finish all have to hold up together, and the callback comes back on the whole opening.

Tucker sells and builds exterior entry systems in fiberglass, wood, and steel, with sidelites, transoms, segment and radius tops, and custom grille patterns. Fiberglass carries most of the volume because it looks like wood without wood's weather problems. Wood is the choice when the opening is protected and the character has to be real. Steel is the pick where budget and security lead. Every configuration prices live in the Design Portal.

Seven things to have in hand before you quote it.

Every prehung unit that comes back for rework is missing one of these. Have them in hand and the order goes through the Design Portal in one pass.

01 Rough opening Width and height of the opening as framed, not the old door. We size the jamb to it.
02 Handing and swing Inswing or outswing, left or right hand, viewed from outside. Get this wrong and the unit ships backwards.
03 Jamb depth 4‑9/16 in. standard. Anything thicker, from a two by six wall or a masonry veneer, has to be called out.
04 Species or grain On wood, the species. On fiberglass, smooth or a woodgrain texture, and which grain pattern the elevation is matching.
05 Glass and lite cut Clear, obscure, or decorative, plus the lite pattern and any simulated divided lite bars.
06 Sill and threshold Sill type and color, and whether the job needs an adjustable or a rated threshold.
07 Bore and hardware Standard 2‑1/8 in. bore, multipoint, or a mortise lock. Multipoint has to be machined at the factory.

What you can spec on the unit.

Each of these is an option in the portal, priced as you pick it. No callback, no wait for a quote sheet.

Glass and lite configurations Insert glass and flush glazed units, from full lite through 3/4, half, and decorative. Privacy ratings and simulated divided lite where the elevation calls for it.
Sidelites, transoms, and tops Single or double sidelites, rectangular or radius transoms, segment and arch tops built to the rough opening.
Grilles and grid patterns Simulated divided lite, true divided lite, and grilles between the glass. Custom patterns and bar widths on the wood units, standard patterns on fiberglass.
Frames and sill systems Composite frames and sill systems on fiberglass units, so the part closest to the water is not wood. Check availability with your Tucker rep.
Hardware prep and bore Standard and multipoint prep, deadbolt bore, and hinge routing done to spec before staging.
Questions we get

What dealers ask us.

Fiberglass, most of the time. It gives you the wood look without swelling, rot, or a seasonal repaint, and it holds a warranty on a west-facing entry that wood will fight. Wood belongs under an overhang or a covered porch.

Yes. Simulated divided lite and true divided lite run on the wood units, with the bar width and pattern set per opening, and grilles between the glass are available where the elevation just needs the look. Send the elevation and we will match the pattern across the door, sidelites, and transom.

That is most of what our custom shop does. Odd widths, tall units, radius and segment tops, and historic profile matches. Send the drawing and we will price it.

We sell the opening as a system, not a loose slab: frame, sill, weatherstrip, and hardware prep. On fiberglass we run a composite sill and frame so the part closest to the water is not wood.
